World Health Organization—Acupuncture: Review and Analysis of Reports on Controlled Clinical Trials
The focus of acupuncture therapy is not only to make you feel better, but to reconnect your body and mind and rekindle the inherent balance that resides in us all. The procedure itself is relatively painless. It involves the insertion of very fine filiform needles into specific pressure points on the body. It is a safe procedure using sterile, single-use, disposable needles. The National Institute of Health, Consensus Panel states the “adverse side effects of acupuncture are extremely low and often lower than conventional treatments.” People describe the feeling of the procedure differently. Almost unanimously, however, the sensations of these acupuncture treatments should in no way be confused with the feeling one has when receiving a regular injection—it’s simply not like that.

The success of this acupuncture therapy has been proven time and time again with patients achieving a feeling of deep relaxation and the decrease or elimination of their symptoms almost immediately. Most treatments last between 30 and 60 minutes. A treatment course consists of a number of treatments, at regular intervals and a reassessment afterward to determine if ongoing therapy is necessary.
